Cherry Turnovers

Ingredients

  • 1 (21 oz can) Cherry Pie filling
  • 1 (17.3 ounce) package frozen puff pastry, thawed in refrigerator

Egg Wash:

  • 1 large egg, whisked with 1 tablespoon water
  • Turbinado sugar, for sprinkling (optional)

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2

Unwrap both of the pastry doughs and cut into 8 squares (4 from each dough).

Step 3

Place a tablespoon or two of cherry pie filling in the center of each square and brush the edges of each square with the egg wash and fold to enclose the pie filling.

Step 4

Transfer turnovers to prepare baking sheets and brush egg wash on each turnover, then sprinkle with raw sugar, if desired.

Step 5

Bake about 20 minutes, until pastries are puffed and golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before serving.
